Did you ever belong to a writer's group?

A: Yes!

The Rogues is a writing group that formed in the winter of 2001 in Huntington, W.V.

I feel lucky to have been part of this amazing group of people. They're not so much writer companions as family at this point. I don't know what I would have done without their support, encouragement, and general brilliance on all things writerly and human.

Many of us have published stuff recently, and those who haven't aren't far behind, so be sure to check back for updates! Meanwhile, check these out:

Laura Bentley's gorgeous collection of poems, Lake Effect, is available in bookstores. Ray Bradbury says of the work: "Laura Bentley, I dub thee poet supreme."

Marie Manilla's debut novel, Shrapnel, will be available soon. This remarkable novel won the 2008 Fred Bonnie Award. Yay!! And you can read a very small selection of her many, many short story publications online at Mississippi Review, VietNow and Calyx (forthcoming).

Paul Martin's hilarious and trenchant first novel, underthebridge.com, is now available!

Leslie Birdwell is the editor of the Ohioana Quarterly, Ohio's book review journal—a publication of the Ohioana Library Association in Columbus.

Shannon Butler's non-fiction work, Travelogues in Dialogue, exploring 19th Century travelogues written about Peru, is now available.

Take a look at the website for Charles Lloyd's forthcoming biography of stage, radio, and recording star Ruth Etting. He is also working on a historical novel about Agesilaus, the enigmatic (and problematic) King of ancient Sparta.

Mary Sansom is finishing a darkly humorous memoir that looks back on her seven years as a teenage anorexic. It's fantastic!
